Microsoft Project Professional – Download

I have standalone Office Professional, and I have just purchased and tried to install Project Professional On installation of Project I’m told that I must uninstall office in order to complete the install. As you can imagine this is not an option as I need the use of office and Project at the same time, and it is not practical to have them spread over 2 laptops etc.

I’m hoping some one can advise me as to whether or not there is a work around, or am I going to have to purchase the office suite just to get project working. To assist you with your query, the information you got from customer service is correct. We have no other work around on this. There will be a compatibility issue if those two are installed together. The one that we have a work around is if you have a Project and Office Check this post for further information.

Thanks for your feedback. Both Visio and Project are expensive products that I don’t want to upgrade but I also don’t want to lose them. Was this reply helpful? Now you know it is safe to upgrade — and also what features you can expect I will tell you about a couple of things of which you need to be aware. You cannot mix versions if you are running click to run installations — so upgrading an Office ProPlus click to run install from to will want to uninstall and click to run products it finds — such as Project and Visio for example.

You will need to update to the for these too. You cannot mix click to run with msi based installers of the same version. You could either change to Project Pro for Office , or get a click to run Project Professional Details required : characters remaining Cancel Submit 5 people found this reply helpful. Don’t rely on this in your decision to upgrade. I have not found any answer to date other than run Project on a seperate machine!

I posted this reply on that blog when I was researching this:. And yet, even though I have a retail copy of Project I could not install Office until it was removed and cannot re-install it with Office present. This is despite being advised by MS “Support” originally that this would work and having gone back to them they are saying Project cannot be on the same PC with Office It turned out that although I have a retail copy of Project bought through a work plan it is a click to run install.

Hence, it cannot install with Office I was able to get an MSI installer version from Technet by downloading an evaluation copy of Project after registering. Version or later is available in all update channels. To see which update channels that Version or later is available in, see Update history for Microsoft Apps.

Trying to open an. MPP file that was created in a later version of Project? Here’s what’s available. Project , Project , and Project all use the same file format. For example, a project created in Project can be opened in Project without saving the project to a different format.

No converter is available. If you received a Project , Project , or Project file that you want to open using Project , ask the person who sent the file to first save it to the Project file format. If you are using Project with SP3, project files from Project can be opened read-only. Download Microsoft Office Service Pack 3.

If you are using Project without SP3, there is no converter available. Upgrade to Project with SP3, or ask the person who sent the Project or later file to save the file first in the Project file format. Ask the person who sent the Project file to save the file first in the Project file format. Ask the person who sent the Project or later file to save the file first in the Project file format.

Alternately, ask the person who sent the Project file to save the file first in the Project 98 file format. Note Project and later versions of Project do not have the ability to save to the Project 98 file format. Want more info? See File formats supported by Project. For Project , click the File tab, then click Help. In nearly all cases, no. There can be a few exceptions, however. If you open a Project file created from a later version and save it the file to your current version, you can lose data or formatting in areas where the later version contains enhanced functionality.

For example, information in new or custom fields from later versions of Project, or any formulas relying on new fields, will be lost when opening in an earlier version.

New options that are set on custom fields created in the later version of Project will also be lost. New calendar exceptions that were added to project and resource calendar functionality such as monthly exceptions, yearly exceptions, and those with arbitrary dates will also be lost. Need more help?
